The Clintons have again found themselves under scrutiny. This time, they are being investigated by the FBI, with agents from Little Rock, Arkansas taking the lead. They are looking into the possibility that the Clinton Foundation took donations in a pay-to-play scheme, as well as any other illegal activities that might have taken place while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. According to The Hill, the FBI has interviewed at least one witness in the past month. Clinton’s chief spokesman, Nick Merrill, on Friday blasted the investigation, saying:
“Let’s call this what it is: a sham…This is a philanthropy that does life-changing work, which Republicans have tried to turn into a political football. It began with a now long-debunked project spearheaded by Steve Bannon during the presidential campaign. It continues with Jeff Sessions doing Trump’s bidding by heeding his calls to meddle with a department that is supposed to function independently.”
News of this inquiry is in accordance with a promise made by Justice Department officials to Congress last year. They promised that they would look into some of the investigations that were shut down during Obama’s administration which conservatives found questionable. So, we are now left with our question of whether the FBI should be investigating the Clintons again.
CNN covered the Feds investigating the Clinton Foundation:
Should the FBI be investigating the Clintons again? Should the Clinton Foundation’s suspicious deals be looked at by the FBI? Or, is this latest investigation a complete waste of time and money?
