Recently, the news went viral that former Washington Archbishop Theodore McCarrick had sexually harassed and seduced seminarians and even abused minors. According to media reports, Pope Francis knew about the Child abuse scandal for years but took no action. This non-action by pope has made some of his followers angry to the extent that they call for Pope Francis to resign.
Some media analysts believe that Pope Francis should resign as he did nothing about the child abuse perpetrators. They argued that cover up a crime, make a person a partner in crime, and Pope Francis is no exception. Therefore, demanded that the Pope should resign. Whereas, others argued that the Pope should not resign and appreciated his efforts for tackling the child abuse issue in the church.
This scenario instigated a debate across social media regarding whether Pope Francis should resign over allegations of knowledge about child abuse scandal for years but doing nothing?
