Recently, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said that if President Donald Trump were to pardon his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, it would be “an admission to guilt”. According to media reports, when CNN’s “The Situation Room” host Wolf Blitzer asked, “Do you believe a pardon for Manafort by the president would be an admission of guilt by the President considering Manafort’s role in the campaign? Durbin answered, “Yes, I would”.
Some media analysts believe that by requesting for pardon, Manafort first must admit his guilt. They believe that if Manafort admits his guilt than it will indirectly mean that Trump is also guilty. Whereas, others argued that Senator Durbin is wrong.
This scenario instigated a debate across social media regarding whether the Manafort pardon would really be an admission of guilt by Trump?
