For the first time since 2013, the United States government is closed. Despite a lunch at the White House with the president, in an attempt to reach a deal to keep the government funded, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, along with most of the Democrats in the Senate and a few Republicans, voted against the House’s continuing resolution to fund the government until February 16. The Democrats want a deal made on DACA and have made it clear that they will not vote for anything that doesn’t support it. The president took to Twitter to point the finger at the Democrats for the shutdown.
