Recently, President Trump approved a 25 percent tariff on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports. According to media reports, President Trump approved these tariffs because of a long history of Chinese unfair trade practices. China’s Minister of Commerce said that we will also impose trade barriers of the “same scale and the same strengths”.

International trade experts believe that such tariffs will result in a full-blown trade war between the United States and China. Whereas, others believe that these tariffs are the result of a long history of unfair trade policies of China.

This scenario instigated a debate over social media regarding whether President Trump really started a trade war with China?
