Recently, Seattle gains much media attention when the city officials approved to ban restaurants from giving single-use plastic utensils and straws to customers. According to media reports, the city officials see this action as a first step to clean the environment.

Some environmentalists believe that more cities should follow Seattle by banning the single-use plastic materials. Furthermore, they believe that more aggressive actions are required to make the environment clean Whereas, plastic industry leaders believe this action will have negative consequences on the plastic industry as a result, the industry will be forced to cut the number of jobs.

This scenario instigated a debate over social media regarding whether the Seattle’s decision to ban restaurants from given single-use plastic utensils to customers is a good initiative?
