Recently, major tech companies including YouTube, Facebook, and Apple have banned InfoWars and deleted years of content from conservative conspiracy theorist Alex Jones over allegations of hate speech. According to media reports, these actions by tech elites fueled a debate between free speech advocates and fake news combatants.

Some media analysts believe that the tech elites’ decision to remove the content of Alex Jones gave a signal that left-leaning Silicon Valley will now actively suppress other propaganda masters and conservative conspiracy theorists. Whereas, others argued that this action was taken as a result of the growing number of users that flagged Infowars’ content as “hate speech” and “fake news”.

This scenario instigated a debate over social media regarding whether the tech giants are suppressing free speech across the internet by censoring content?
