Recently, President Trump sparked public outrage when he sided with President Putin over his own intelligence community. Trump responded by tweeting that “Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia. They would rather go to war than see this. It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome!”. Furthermore, he also stated that “So many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in Helsinki.” However, media reports go against Trump’s statement.

Some media analysts believe that Trump sided with Putin against his own country’s intelligence community. Therefore, they consider Trump’s actions as direct treason against the United States. Whereas, others believe that Trump did not speak to the intelligence community. They argue that people like Comey and Brennan are accusing Trump of treason because they want to spread distrust against Trump.

This scenario instigated a debate over social media regarding whether Trump really did speak against the U.S. Intelligence.
