Are Bill Gates and Warren Buffett right about Bitcoin?

Recently, CNBC’s Becky Quick interviewed Warren Buffett – CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Charlie Munger – Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, and Bill Gates – Microsoft Co-Founder. While sharing their views about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Warren Buffett said that “Bitcoin is an asset that creates nothing, and its value depends on the excitement of next buyer”. Similarly, Bill Gates labeled Bitcoin as a “crazier Speculative investment”.

Some bitcoin analysts argue that Buffett and Gates are wrong about Bitcoin. For instance, Chamath Palihapitiya said that “I am a disciple of Warren Buffett, but he is wrong about Bitcoin”. Whereas, others argue that Buffett and Gates are right. Although, Bitcoin is nothing, yet the technology behind it “Blockchain” is the real value proposition.
