Recently, Roseanne Barr tweeted about Valerie Jarrett (VJ), a senior advisor to former President Barack Obama. Many followers criticized Barr for posting such a racist tweet that stated, “Muslim brotherhood & planet of apes had a baby=vj”. Roseanne Barr deleted the tweet and posted “Forgive me- my joke was in bad taste”. However, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey canceled the Roseanne revival show by stating that “Roseanne’s twitter statement is repugnant, abhorrent, and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show”.

The entertainment industry remains divided over this decision by ABC Entertainment Channel. For instance, Walt Disney’s CEO Bob Iger stated that “There was only one thing to do here and that was the right thing”. Whereas, others argued that this cancellation is not justified and will leave a bad precedence.

This scenario instigated a debate over social media regarding whether the ABC’s decision to cancel Roseanne TV show is justified?
